FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
2012 Florida TechXpo – Florida’s Premier Technology
Innovation Exposition
Melbourne, FL: The Melbourne Regional Chamber of East Central Florida is proud to present the 2nd annual Florida TechXpo on Tuesday, October 9, 2012, from 10AM to 5PM. TechXpo, referred to as “tech-spo,” is an exposition of the technology and innovations created by 100 technology and manufacturing companies throughout Florida.
The event is hosted by Florida Institute of Technology – the only independent, technological university in the southeast – and will be held at the Clemente Center. This single-day event allows companies with advanced technologies and innovations to display their products and services to other companies looking for resources and suppliers.
TechXpo also celebrates Manufacturing Day the week prior, which highlights the importance of manufacturing to the nation’s economy and draws attention to high-skill jobs available in manufacturing fields. To continue the momentum of this manufacturing celebration, Florida TechXpo 2012 will showcase hot industries, including: Aerospace, Composites, Consumer Products, Emerging Technology, Homeland Security & Defense, Health Care, Information Technology, Manufacturing, Robotics, Simulation, Telecommunications, & Transportation.
TechXpo will continue its international flavor by offering companies access to international markets. The Aerospace & Defence Office of the Consulate General of Canada in Miami will be in attendance, as well as representation from Enterprise Florida, the U.S. Export Assistance Center and other agencies. Attendees will be able to schedule one-on-one meetings with these representatives by appointment. An international panel will present at a special V.I.P. Luncheon at Florida Institute of Technology that day, for which separate tickets are available.
In addition, breakout sessions will be held the day of the event, which are free to Exhibitors, Sponsors and Attendees. For those wanting to export, and expand their exporting capabilities, the morning breakout session features the topic “Taking Your Technology Company International” presented by John Fay, Commercial Officer, U.S. Department of Commerce, International Trade Administration U.S. Commercial Service. He will be joined by Cynthia Flores, First Vice President of SunTrust Global Trade Solutions, who will cover Export Financing Strategies. Her presentation will include programs offered by the Export-Import Bank of the U.S., the U.S. Small Business Administration and other vehicles for obtaining export financing and securing payment for export sales. This session will be held from 10:45 -11:30AM on the Florida Institute of Technology campus in the Olin Engineering Building, Room 118, adjacent to the Clemente Center.
The afternoon breakout session will be held from 2:30-3:15PM, in the Olin Engineering Building, Room 118, featuring Don Platt, Program Director for the Florida Institute of Technology’s Space Systems Master’s Degree Program. Mr. Platt will present “Changing Frontiers on the Space Coast” discussing the transition of business on the Space Coast after the shuttle program, the impact of commercial enterprises and the new opportunities for the high-tech work force. He is the founder and president of Micro Aerospace Solutions, Inc., a small engineering consulting business specializing in space and commercial product design and development.
A brand new element is being introduced for our Exhibitors this year. The October issue of Space Coast Business magazine will feature a special 16-page TechXpo insert, complete with a listing of all Exhibitors, a Facility Map, Breakout Session details and Advertising. In addition, over 2,000 copies of this high-gloss, 8.5” x 11” advertising section will be distributed at the event.
The kickoff to the Exposition will be an exclusive Reception and V.I.P. Awards Dinner, hosted by Embraer, a jet aircraft manufacturer based in Melbourne, Florida. The banquet will be held at the Hilton Rialto in Melbourne on Columbus Day, Monday, October 8, 2012, from 5:30-9PM. A keynote address will be presented by John P. Mulholland, Vice President and Program Manager for Commercial Programs Space Exploration at Boeing.
