Why is Heart of Florida United Way Focusing on Veterans?
      • 110,000 veterans call Central Florida home.
      • 44% of veterans who served after 9/11 report difficulty readjusting to civilian life.
      • Veterans report difficulties finding employment, accessing and completing education.

What is Mission United?
      • Mission United is a community collaboration that will provide veterans with a central point of community support, ensuring that service members and their
        families are never more than two steps from the help they need.
      • Mission United will focus on creating systemic change in the areas of education, employment, and legal services for veterans.

Employment
      • Increase the number of veteran hire rates in Central Florida through employer education and partnerships.

Education
      • Increase the number of veterans accessing and completing vocational training or college education, leading to higher employability skills.

Legal Services
      • Provide counsel and advice to veterans about legal problems, like eviction, foreclosure, accessing public benefits, family law or bankruptcy. Offer assistance
        with finding a lawyer, if necessary.
