ORLANDO, Fla., February 23, 2016 — The National Center for Simulation announced its new and returning board members. New board members are Michael Tschanz, Director of Technology and Analysis/Design and Engineering for Walt Disney World, and Bill “Roto” Reuter, president of R-Squared Solutions. The five remaining seats were filled with returning members: Angela Alban, SIMETRI; Brian Holmes, AEgis Technologies Group; David Manning, StrategyONE Services; Marni Spence, CliftonLarsonAllen; and Mary Trier, Capital Communications and Consulting. Each director will serve a three-year term ending in September 2018.
Reuter is a retired Navy captain, and the former commanding officer of Naval Support Activity and Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division. He has been serving the Modeling and Simulation (M&S) industry for nearly 8 years, and understands the important role that NCS plays in helping to nurture and grow Central Florida’s M&S industry in Orlando, the nation’s epicenter for M&S.
Reuter said: “The modeling and simulation industry generates $4.7 billion in revenue for Florida, and the heart of that is right here in Central Florida. We have to keep the heart healthy to maintain that rate of growth. We need to evolve as technology does. The industry looks to NCS for strategic guidance, and I look forward to the challenge.”
Tschanz builds the Board’s technology and engineering talent from the private sector with his extensive experience at Disney. He was keynote speaker at the 2015 Florida Simulation Summit hosted by NCS and Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs.
Steve Painter was elected new chairman of the 2016 NCS Board. Painter is a long-term member of the board. Holmes was appointed vice chair, and Trier was appointed treasurer.
Spence is a tax partner at CliftonLarsonAllen and has more than 26 years of tax experience in public accounting. Elected for a second three-year term, Spence brings to the board a long history of financial expertise, supporting both the financial and budget committees.
“NCS needs strong individuals on our board to help us tell the important story of Orlando’s leadership in the modeling and simulation industry, including the local and national impacts made by partners of Team Orlando and NCS,” said Lt,. Gen. (Ret) Thomas L. Baptiste, president and CEO, National Center for Simulation. “We’re lucky to have these individuals, and I’m eager to work with them and the simulation community to find new opportunities that protect and grow this important high-tech epicenter of modeling and simulation.”
