Switching from an entrepreneur to ‘intrapreneur’ helps Black Orlando Tech exec bring more minorities into the field (by Alex Soderstrom)

Joshua Walker found early success as an entrepreneur, but he soon learned that starting a business isn’t for everyone.

Walker and his wife ran a digital consultancy from 2016-2017, and the business was successful in landing projects. However, Walker changed directions on 2017, joining global consulting giant Deloitte.

“The misconception of starting a business is, if you don’t go into it with the right mindset, you’re going into a private prison,” Walker told Orlando Business Journal. “You’re trading working 40-50 hours for working 24/7.”

Entrepreneurship and technology often are discussed hand-in-hand, but Walker said many young tech workers overlook the career path of intrapreneurship, which is promoting innovation and entrepreneur-like thinking within a larger organization.
