A virtual reality training firm’s expansion to Orlando will create 25 high-wage jobs, but that may be just the start of 3D Media VR LLC’s growth in the region.
The Thibodaux, Louisiana-based tech firm is opening a facility in the University of Central Florida Research Park Business Incubator and may move more of its operations to Central Florida in the future, President Megan Roy told Orlando Business Journal.
The company provides immersive business training using augmented and virtual reality. In Louisiana, Roy often heard about Orlando’s $6 billion modeling, simulation and training industry. The 3D Media team visited the region, and they were impressed enough to establish a second hub here, Roy said. “The ecosystem in Louisiana is nothing like this.”
UCF, the Orlando Economic Partnership and the Orlando-based National Center for Simulation helped 3D Media set up shop in Orlando.
